Valaam island: photography

Valaam was one of religious centers of Russia - selected monks were allowed to live in Valaam sketes. Churches, sketes, monastery - all they were built from stone which was under feet.

The map of Valaam shows that about 15 architecture items were built. Valaam was makink business (trade) with oter towns and produced different things. It was very powerful and rich - though it started from a naked place.

But for me the most interesting thing of Valaam is the nordic nature. Here some photos of Valaam-
